Property In Phuket Town – Phuket Town is the commercial centre and provincial capital of Phuket island.
All of the local administration and government offices, such as immigration, the driving test centre, now there's a paradox!, and the provincial land office, where you can check out property information such as titles etc., are in town.
Phuket Town is a large sprawling maze of a place, with a one way system that guarantees somebody is going to get lost on most visits.
In comparison to Patong, Phuket Town is "real Thai" with tourists being much less in abundance and tending to be of the more "cultural" type.
It's also the base for most of Phuket's professionals, lawyers and bankers etc.
Prices for just about everything are cheaper in Phuket Town, including property.
And there's always the convenience of Tesco Lotus, Big C and Central Festival on the outskirts of the town, all of which are large shopping centers. You will find all of your favourite European consumables and goods in these places.
Central Festival has a cinema complex on the second floor featuring the latest English and Thai releases with all the comforts you would expect in a modern cinema, comfortable roomy seating, even two seater sofas! plus air–con and pop corn, great for a low season rainy day.

Phuket Town itself largegly consists of semi detached Sino–Portuguese houses built around 1880 – 1905.
Some have been turned into offices, others into boutique hotels, whilst others are still used as homes.
If you want to own a bit of Phuket history, you can buy one of these properties rather cheaply, although most are in need of a lot of TLC, including rewiring and plumbing.
The advantage of buying a run down one though, is that it usually has all the original fixtures and fittings and once renovated looks absolutely fantastic.
On the outskirts of Phuket Town there are many home/office, stand alone homes and townhouses available.
Most are very well priced compared to the rest of the island.
Still further afield, in what could be considered the Phuket Town "suburbs", there are plenty of top quality villas available which come on to the market for sale or for rent and is a good market as there is still a demand for properties located in a well established, mature area.
