Phuket Property in Kathu – Overview

Phuket property in Kathu was initially built around the now obsolete tin mining industry.

In it's heyday, Kathu was a bustling commercial centre, and while it's still the district capital for the Kathu region, Kathu is now dwarfed in size (population) and popularity by its younger sibling, Patong Beach, situated just over Buddha Hill.

Bang Wad Dam Kathu Today, Kathu is mainly a residential and commercial centre for nearby Patong, although it also sports the Loch Palm and the Phuket Country Golf Clubs.

In relation to the popular resort areas, Kathu properties are relatively cheap and as land is still available, villas and bungalows seem to be the order of the day.

The infrastructure is also developing fast.

Kathu covers a large geographic area, but the uninspiring main street in the town itself is narrow and a traffic nightmare during peak periods.

Phuket Property in Kathu – Lower Budget

Some people buy and rent in Kathu because of it's central location and cheaper prices. For example, it's possible to buy a really nice house with all the mod-cons for around 5 million Baht as long as you're not bothered about a view.

Golden Ville Apartments, Kathu You can then rent that house for 12,000 - 15,000 Baht a month on a long term basis, and if you choose to live in it, you're never more than 20 minutes from just about everything.

If a house is not your style and you prefer to have a view, then The Heritage Suites is a luxury condominium development comprising 67, one and 2-bedroom units housed in two 7-storey Sino-Portuguese style buildings.

The development takes advantage of the oasis of green hills between Phuket Town and Patong, so some of the units have pretty good views.

All units have en-suite bathrooms throughout, open-plan living areas and a guest toilet.

They are priced (December 2007), from 3.3 – 9.8 million Baht.

Phuket Property in Kathu – Mid Range

Tropical Properties has on their books (December 2007), a newly built single-storey house in the Kathu area. It has a built up area of 153m2 on a land plot of 222m2.

This single-storey house consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 ensuite bathroom with bathtub and a shared bathroom.

There is air conditioning throughout, a fully fitted Western style kitchen, a spacious open plan living/dining area, car parking area and garden surrounded by a perimeter wall.

This managed property of 4 homes also has a common swimming pool as well.

The asking price for this cozy property is 7 million Baht.

There are also 2 villas available with private pools on nearly 1 rai of land within Phuket Country Club Golf Course with Golf membership included.

Other mid range develoments include the Anuphas Golf Ville, which for some weird reason has a large concrete chicken guarding it's entrance.

It's a mature estate and one of the most desirable locations in the east of Kathu.

It's mostly an ex–pat area and there are usually 1 or 2 houses being privately sold, so it's worth driving through if your budget extends to 10 million Baht or so.

If you want to live near a golf course, Baan Suan Loch Palm is a residential development comprising 34 homes situated by the fairways of Loch Palm Golf Course.

It offers 5 villa styles with 2–3 bedrooms. All bedrooms throughout are en–suite.

The homes at Baan Suan have spacious living/dining areas, maids quarters and covered parking for 2 cars.

Construction should be completed in 2008 and they are priced from 7.5 – 11 million Baht.

Phuket Property in Kathu – High End

The Loch Palm is a new residential development located beside the Loch Palm Golf Course.

The project consists of 22 detached and 12 semi-detached 3-storey villas, with views across the fairways and lakes of the golf course.

Each home features 3 to 5 bedrooms and over 350m2 of living area on land plots up to 800m2. They all have landscaped tropical gardens.

The detached villas feature an infinity–edge swimming pool and large decking on the first floor, while semi-detached villas have swimming pools on the ground level.

Prices here are 18 – 35 million Baht.

For those who want the very best life has to offer in this central location, then Baan Cocoon is a 49 luxury-home, fairway fronted Residential Estate in the Phuket Golf and Country Club.

The average property consists of 2 master–sized bedrooms with walk–in closet plus bathroom, 2 guest rooms with bathrooms, a kitchen, laundry area and 2 maids rooms with separate bathroom facilities.
