Ao Po is located on the most North Easterly point of the Island. It is directly north of Ao Po Bay which looks over Ko Raet and
Ko Nakha Yai islands.
The actual Ao Po area has fantastic views over Phang Nga Bay, whilst the view from Ao Po Bay is shortened by the presence of the islands.
Neither Ao Po nor Ao Po Bay have white sandy beaches, except for a little strip on the headland separating the two areas.
Instead the beaches are characterised by relatively deep waters with mangrove fringes which are frequented by local fishermen.
Surrounding the area are vast tracts of rubber plantations, read development opportunities.
As such Ao Po was considered a sleepy backwater until the Ao Po Marina was given the go ahead.
The marina is to be situated on the headland separating Ao Po and Ao Po Bay.
Planned to open in 2007, (still in construction as of October 2007), and occupying 150 Rai of land, the marina complex will feature a
large (200 berth) and versatile marina, a luxury hotel and high-end villas all of which will
take advantage of the fabulous views.
As such, the sleepy backwater is now very much in demand and those fortunate enough to have bought property 10 years ago, have seen the value of their homes skyrocket.

Apart, from the fantastic views, a public pier as well as a marina, reasonably large land parcels and relative peace and quiet, Ao Po is within
easy distance of
the international airport (15 minutes), the British International School (20 minutes), Mission Hills Golf course (10 minutes) and Yacht Haven (15 minutes).
So, whilst Ao Po might not be every ones cup of tea, if you like tranquility, fishing, year round yachting and boating in protected waters,
golfing and fantastic views to rival any view on the West Coast,
Ao Po may be for you, particularly if you have school aged children, and need ready access to the airport.

Part of the charm of the Ao Po area in the past was the lack of development.
However, now the marina is nearing completion, developers have got their eyes on the large parcels of land surrounding the area, and numerous villas and apartments will soon be available.
Whether or not they will all be high–end is yet to be seen, although it seems likely.
There are still plots of land available as well as larger development blocks on the hills overlooking Ao Po and the Bay.
There are also free standing houses available as well as villas (East Coast Villas and The Estate Beachfront), although not too many others at present.
